I first heard about EBM about 8 years ago. I had recently been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries by my gynaecologist, who suggested I seek 'alternative' healing/ treatment before anything else, as my periods, hormones and potential to get pregnant were all being affected. I discussed this with an esoteric healing practitioner that I was seeing at the time and she mentioned this treatment that was exclusively for women, practiced solely by highly trained female therapists. She was the only therapist/ healer/ practitioner that I'd ever seen who I could feel had proper integrity.
It sounded a bit odd at first, but once she explained it I knew I wanted to give it a go. I was expecting to feel really self conscious, but the way that it's done is so respectful and non intrusive; everything's covered and you don't feel exposed at all - I've experienced full body massages that feel way more imposing on me physically.
The massage is unlike anything else I've ever experienced - I'd never given much thought to my boobs or how they might impact my body overall. Of course the only context we ever hear about boobs is sexual, so when I discussed it with my partner and friends it got a bit of a banterous reaction but once I'd explained what it really is, people seem intrigued and are open to it.
I received the treatment periodically over a couple of years and all my period and hormone related symptoms dramatically improved, including PMS which totally stopped. When I revisited my gynae a few years back, she was astounded to discover that I no longer had polycystic ovaries. Needless to say, I had no trouble conceiving and gave birth to a gorgeous boy last year.
I started having EBMs again before the birth and it helped a lot to remind me that I'm a woman first rather than a mum-to-be, and not just a vessel carrying a child. I also continued the treatment throughout breastfeeding, and again, it has felt amazing to have the reminder that my boobs are mine first before they are my son's milk supply! I didn't have any problems breastfeeding and I absolutely accredit the EBM for that as well. I highly recommend it as it has been incredible for me in so many ways.
